Suddenly I'm in the air, flying high above the ocean
and the first sign of the coastline
is a white, enormous shell
Have you ever been to Sydney?
Have you seen the opera there?
'Cause they moved the building to this vision -
audience and orchestra as well
Destination pretty obvious,
I fly down towards the shell
but the stage and seats are empty,
and the waves are drifting in
Now the ocean currents wet the stage,
and a channel cuts right through
Filled with icy arctic waters leading back inside;
an unknown task begins
Heading up the freezing river
when the building says to me
that persistence in the face of hardship
leads you to your goal
Like a writer in a rainstorm
I ignore my soaking bones
Navigating to the headstream;
on arrival, claim a piece of my lost soul
As I step out on the shore,
I see the river ends backstage
The band is tuning up
and that big curtain's set to raise
A sickening trepidation
sweeps across my shaking skin
When they ask:
What shall we start with?
Audience is waiting - let the show begin |
