Mouths and Frogs

I'm floating, slowly floating

Awareness without form, I'm moving
Gigantic mouths ahead
I'm headed there, the fangs are bared

I'm floating, slowly drifting

Disembodied jaws
The teeth white gleaming scimitars, curved inward

I'm flying

And overhead, the gargoyle frogs stare silently
their rubber faces smiling

Their dull, glass eyes
can pierce the smoke like floodlight beams
To catch me where I'm hiding

And I'm floating

Beyond the jaws I find
A string of mouths, they wait in line
The gauntlet - am I being eaten?

The last mouth has hooked teeth where the tongue should be - I'm going in.
